Psalm 146:8-9
The Lord opens the eyes of the blind. The Lord lifts up those who are bowed down. The Lord loves the righteous. The Lord watches over the aliens. The fatherless and the widow he sustains, but he turns aside the way of the wicked.
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before you this morning in thanksgiving that you have opened our eyes. For all who believe and trust in you, you restored our sight from the sin which once blinded us. Because of our iniquities, we could not see ourselves or realize how corruption had pushed us away from you. But in your mercy, you sent your Son, who has given faith’s vision to all who believe in him, and by believing in Jesus, we also trust in you. Lord, when we can see our sinful selves, then we come before you with broken hearts desiring to be restored by you. We become righteous, not by our own efforts but by Jesus. He lived a holy life in our place and then went to the cross as an innocent man to suffer for our sins. Jesus’ righteousness comes to us through faith in him. This trust comes from your Holy Spirit because he begins faith in us through your word and sacraments.
We are all aliens wandering this earth until this life is done or Jesus comes again because, with our final breath, then heaven is our home. We pray that you would overcome the evil one’s plans according to your promise, guard and protect us so that we might freely sing your praise and give glory to you. We also pray that you would allow us to share the good news of your word with someone else who is blind so that they, too, might hear and believe Jesus died for their sins; that they will be saved. Amen.

Jesus removed our sins that keep us away from God, faith receives that gift of forgiveness, and only when our sins are removed can we love God. So those who love God, he provides all that we need and protects us.
