1 Peter 3:15-16

But regard the Lord, the Christ, as holy in your hearts. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give a reason for the hope that is in you. But speak with gentleness and respect, while maintaining a clear conscience, so that those who attack your good way of life in Christ may be put to shame because they slandered you as evildoers.

Dear Lord Jesus,

Our hope comes from you; you have brought peace to all people, but it is not as the world knows peace. At times, we may not see peace or even feel at ease because this world can get really chaotic. All the turmoil, sickness, disease, political unrest, fighting, disagreements, and death make this world unpeaceful. We can do nothing about the rest of the world because it is sinful. However, when we come to you, you have removed all our sins, every last one, and this is true peace. All the guilt one might have for the things they said, did, or even thought; you have taken into yourself. Peace came when you restored us to your side, knowing we have eternal life, and that comes only through you forgiving all our iniquities—every loveless thing against you and others. That is why you suffered the cross for our sins to redeem us back to you.

Your forgiveness is for everyone, so let us share your love with others in gentleness and respect. Lord, when people lie about us because of you, please strengthen our faith to overcome those troubles and give us a mindset of forgiveness for their unawareness of you. Today let us share our hope of your forgiveness with someone who does not know about you so they, too, will have hope through you. Amen.

While we may not see our hope and, at times, not feel it, faith knows its truth when you anchor your hope on Jesus’ forgiveness and salvation.
