Hebrews 11:1 – 3

Faith is being sure about what we hope for, being convinced about things we do not see. For by this faith the ancients were commended in Scripture. By faith we know that the universe was created by God’s word, so that what is seen did not come from visible things.

Dear Heavenly Father,

Many things require faith in our daily lives. We cannot see the oxygen in the air, and we may not even consider that each breath puts that oxygen in our lungs and keeps us alive until the next breath comes. We may not know where the water comes from, but we turn on the faucet and are confident the water will come out. Driving on the highway at 65 mph, we believe that yellow paint will keep the car heading towards us from hitting us. We live by faith.

We might not see our conscience, but we know that when we do, say, or think something wrong, we are accountable for those things. Knowing you also require faith. Through our faith, the Holy Spirit started; we know Jesus as our Savior. We have never seen him but through your word, yet we know he has forgiven everything we had ever done when Jesus suffered and died on the cross for every sin. Your Son, our Savior, was not part of creation but made himself to be part of it when he was conceived of Mary. Faith also knows that because of Jesus’ work, we are restored to you, our heavenly Father. Thank you for giving us faith.

Through faith, we also know that you created all things from nothing. So we pray you will start faith in many more people by sharing your word and the gospel message. So please let the good news of Jesus’ love and forgiveness touch many hearts today so they will also have a saving faith. Amen.

You may have many questions like: how can you believe in God, how do you know it is true, or how can you be sure? The answer is this: Jesus is no longer in a tomb. He rose from the dead after paying the price for our sins, and faith started by his Spirit is how we believe.
