Isaiah 52:7
How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of a herald, who proclaims peace and preaches good news, who proclaims salvation, who says to Zion, “Your God is king!”
Dear Heavenly Father,
Feet are not usually considered beautiful, but they are pretty amazing. They are the body’s workhorses; we put socks on them to make them feel better about being stuffed shoes to be stood on all day and moving us from one place to another. They endure a lot of abuse but are never usually something we would admire. But they are even more remarkable when they belong to the one who delivers us the message of your peace, good news, and salvation. The beauty of the message is so impressive that even those feet carrying the messenger deserve recognition.
We thank you for this message—Jesus is our king. In our sinfulness, we deserve only your wrath and punishment. However, Jesus suffered that punishment in our place; he suffered the separation from you that we should face; he endured your wrath for our sins. Jesus’ empty tomb on Easter morning was meant for us, and you had accepted his punishment for our sins. The great news is this, instead of getting what we deserve, you have forgiven all our sins for Jesus’ sake; we have the peace of forgiveness. We have also been made heirs of your kingdom and eternal life. It is magnificent news that we no longer need to be afraid of you but live in your kingdom, in your grace. Jesus is our king who has defeated our enemies—death, sin, and the devil.
Allow us to herald this news to those who have not heard this glorious message and be with us as we climb their mountains of unbelief to share this good news with them, “Your God is king!” Amen.

What a beautiful message of peace, hope, and joy that makes feet look beautiful. The feet that carry the messenger who delivers the message of forgiveness and everlasting life, which is yours through faith in Jesus, our King!
