1 Timothy 2:5-6
For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all, the testimony given at the proper time.
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for sending us the perfect mediator, your Son. In the Old Testament, priests would make intercession for your people, but they were sinful like us. They had first to offer a sacrifice for their sins, and all the sacrifices they offered were a reminder of what you told Adam and Eve that when they ate of the forbidden fruit, they would surely die. Moreover, because of sin, death must occur; it was the wage—what was due to us—for our sins. So there is not one of us who is innocent; we all deserve death. However, their offering pointed to the perfect sacrifice, our Savior, Jesus.
Jesus was the perfect sacrifice for our sins; he took into himself all the sins of the world, and so all who believe in him have everlasting life. This gift is ours through faith. Jesus is now our perfect mediator because he came to earth to be tempted in every way we are tempted, and while he did not sin, he knows the weight of sin. But, like a lawyer—a mediator—defending us, he declares us not guilty because he has already forgiven us and ransomed himself in our place for our every sin.
Lord, let us never take Jesus’ suffering and death for granted, nor the forgiveness he has for us that we think we have this license to sin. Instead, let us hold this gift of life, forgiveness, and salvation so precious that we share it with those who do not know you. Please have your Holy Spirit work in them so they, too, will trust in Jesus, who testifies on behalf of all who trust in him. Amen.

Trust in the mediator who not only stands before you but has also suffered in your place for every sin you have ever done. Jesus has forgiven your every sin through his suffering and death on the cross, and by faith in him, you have eternal life.
