Psalm 28: 6-9

Blessed be the Lord, because he has heard the sound of my plea for mercy. The Lord is my strength and my shield. In him my heart trusts, and I am helped. My heart also celebrates. With my song I will give thanks to him. The Lord is their strength. He is a stronghold of salvation for his anointed king. Save your people, and bless the people that belong to you. Shepherd them, and carry them forever.

Dear Heavenly Father,

It is no secret that we live in a turbulent time, with challenges all around us, and while we can do nothing about the world, like David, we plead for your mercy. Hear our prayer! Lord, because of your mercy, we pray for forgiveness for Jesus’ sake because we know we are completely undeserving of your love. For that reason, your Son suffered and died in our place on Calvary’s cross for all our sins, and he also paid for the world’s sins. This gift of forgiveness you make possible for all people who trust in you. For those who believe in you, you keep them in your care that nothing in this world can take your love and mercy from them. We pray that you will strengthen us and keep us always in your care. Lord, save us, your people, and please shepherd us. Please provide us all we need to nourish and water our souls and keep all the dangers away.

And like David, we thank you for keeping us in your care; we know and trust you will continue to provide for us in this crazy world. So please let us share your mercy with those who do not know you and are being attacked by this world; so that they, too, will trust you. Amen.
