2 Corinthians 12:9
And he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, because my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will be glad to boast all the more in my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may shelter me.
Dear Heavenly Father,
It is only through weakness do we see your grace. When a person feels their life is going well, and they feel confident in all, they think they have accomplished for themselves. They usually are not ready to hear your good news. However, when the same person has suffered a tremendous loss and realizes they do not control anything, it is then that they are ready to listen. Lord, when someone is suffering from a sickness or is hurting from a lost loved one, it is there that your grace is sufficient for us; when we err or have a weakness in our abilities, you provide for us. Throughout life, we face many challenges, including these bodies running their course over time and wearing out. They are susceptible to hurt, pain, sadness, disease, and illness because we live in a sinful world. There are times when you restore us and times when like Paul, you tell us your grace is sufficient for us. At the end of this life, you call us and all believers home, and at the end of all these situations of weakness, we will know you were there.
Especially for our weakest moment dealing with our sins, there was nothing we could do. So you sent your Son to suffer and die for all our sins. So that your grace—undeserved loved—would be there for us. Jesus came here because of the weakness of our sins to restore us to you. May we never be proud of the things we have done, but may we boast about all those sins Jesus overcame for us and the forgiveness he won for us. We pray that Christ’s power would continue to shelter us and that our boast would lead others to Jesus and his forgiveness. Amen.

The more you see your weakness, the more you realize that God’s strength and power are carrying you in your life. When you are weak and in trouble, ask God to help you, then thank him no matter how he brings you through it.
