1 Corinthians 11:23-26
For I received from the Lord what I also delivered to you: The Lord Jesus, on the night when he was betrayed, took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, “This is my body, which is for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” In the same way, after the meal, he also took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new testament in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.” For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.
Dear Lord Jesus,
You have given us your body and blood in, with, and under the bread and wine in this holy sacrament. Matthew added that this was for the forgiveness of sins, for the many. Each time we come to the table, we are to remember how you willingly gave up your flesh for the penalty of our sins. You allowed yourself to be beaten and scourged for all our sins; then you allowed them to nail you to the cross. On that cross, you took all our sins into yourself and became a curse for us in our place. Your blood flowed that fateful day to wash away all our sins. Just as the Passover meal had been given to the Hebrews to remember how You rescued them from Egyptian oppression, you gave us a new testament to remember how You saved us from even greater persecution from our sins. Without your suffering and death, we have no forgiveness and face eternal condemnation. However, we have eternal life by faith, remembering, knowing, and trusting what you have done. In this meal, we proclaim your death until you come back again. Lord, please give us the desire to join with all other saints in this meal and grant us forgiveness and life that comes only through you. Amen.

Never forget Jesus and the love he has for you! He suffered and died to restore you to his Father so that by believing in him—through faith the Holy Spirit gives—you have everlasting life.
