Revelation 1:8

“I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, the one who is, and who was, and who is coming, the Almighty.

Dear Lord Jesus,

Before creation began, you were here. There with the Father and the Holy Spirit, you were the one behind the word that created the universe. You are also with us now, the one who went to the cross to suffer and die for all our sins. You are also the one who is still to come on that last day of judgment. Our sinful flesh would like to fret over all we had done in the past, the guilt and shame as we remember those sins; from our history, we know how inadequate and undeserving we are to be loved. Then as we consider what tomorrow brings, we stew over the possibility of letting people down and failing. However, you came here to save us; from all the things we messed up at or the ways we were unloving to others. Our sins remind us how inadequate and underserving we are of your love because you were perfect. Your suffering and death have removed all our past sins; there is nothing left for us to fret about, which happened yesterday. You are also the God who loves and cares for us; you care for all our tomorrows. So as you have taken away our concerns of yesterday and tomorrow, we are left at this moment with you. Our God who is with us now, you are our great Shepherd who provides us all we need. In faith, we know you have forgiven us, so our debt of sin is gone; you have covered us in your righteousness so we are seen in your perfection. Lord, we thank You for being the One who is, who was, and is coming. Let us respond by sharing this good news about you with others who do not know you. Amen.

Believe in Jesus because you cannot change the past, and you have little influence on tomorrow, but trust Jesus, who has already forgiven yesterday’s sins and will forgive your sins of tomorrow.
