Psalm 5: 11 – 12

But let all who take refuge in you be glad. Let them sing for joy forever. You cover them with protection, so those who love your name rejoice in you. Yes, you bless the righteous, Lord. You surround them with your favor as a shield.

Dear Heavenly Father,

May we all run to You for Your protection and sing Your praises in this prayer for Your protection. We live in a world that wants to destroy us—Your faithful people; they attack us for doing what Your Word calls excellent and proper. Yet we have Your promise here in this Psalm that those who trust in You, we can run to You for cover, as a hen would cover her chicks, providing a warm and safe place of refuge—no matter what is happening around her. You cover all Your believers with Your protection and bless the righteous—those who trust in Your Son as their Savior.

There are two types of people in the world: those who know and trust in You and those who do not believe. We all will be held accountable for what we have done in this life and will stand before You in the end. Those who do not believe will be eternally condemned for every sin of thought, word, and action because You are a just God, and do not allow wickedness to go unpunished. However, those who trust in Jesus have salvation because He said, “No one comes to the Father except by me.” We know and trust that He went to the cross to suffer for all our sins—we have the peace of His forgiveness and are surrounded by His and Your favor as a shield.

Let our reaction be that of joy, singing of the peace You have won for us in Your plan of salvation for the world. Your design was for everyone, but it is delivered only by faith in Jesus. We pray that we have opportunities today to share our refuge, cover, protection, and shield with those who do not know You so that they, too, will have faith and be in Your favor. Amen.

Although the world spreads false accusations, labeling God’s people as antiquated or wicked—we remember that God sees the truth. He knows those faithful to Him and His Son; he safeguards them from harm. Moreover, having God on your side, the world can not take your faith.
