Psalm 66:1-4

Shout praise to God, all the earth! Make music to the glory of his name! Make his praise glorious! Say to God, “How awesome are your deeds!” Because of your great power, your enemies must cower before you. All the earth bows down to you. They make music to you. They make music to your name.

Dear Heavenly Father,

To sit and listen to the birds as they call out and sing. The sounds of the day seem to bring great joy all around us; the day springs forth in a jubilant song of praise. Lord, we say with the psalmist, “How awesome are your deeds!” You created us to be your children to live with you for eternity, yet sin came into this world and drove us from you. So you sent your Son to us to restore the world to you, so all who believe in what Jesus has done are reunited with you. You could have abandoned us and started over; instead, you redeemed us through Jesus’ holy life and his innocent death on the cross. All those who reject you are your enemies, and they will cower before you when you grant them their desire to be on their own. Lord, it is your heaven, and to get into it is by perfect love for you and others, which we fail at regularly, which is why you gave us Jesus. By faith in him, we receive his perfection, and he also removes our sins. Thank you for your wondrous deeds that we can sing about you to others because of the forgiveness Jesus won for us. All the world sings your praise, so let us join their chorus line and make music to your name for the mercy you have given to us. We pray that we can share our praise with others so that they will learn and know of your grace and mercy; in the end, they will also trust you and have eternal life. Amen.

The world praises the Lord for what he does to sustain it; they recognize his wonders. How much more does God do for people? He not only maintains us with our daily needs; he also redeems us from all our sins so that through faith in Jesus, we have eternal life.
