Psalm 69:13

But I direct my prayer to you, O Lord, for a time of favor. God, in the greatness of your mercy, answer me with the certainty of salvation from you.

Dear Heavenly Father,

This verse comes from a plea of one who knows his sin and needs your forgiveness; our prayer comes from ones who also know their sins and need your intercession. Lord, without you, we suffer from the guilt and shame of our sins for all we have thought, said, and done. We might behave ourselves for a moment, but in the next, we react to the world, neighbors, and family in loveless ways; our consciences are burdened with carrying all we have done, and we need your relief.

So we direct our prayer to you, that you would grant us your favor; this comes because your Son suffered our punishment for all our sins. By your love and mercy, hear the confessions of our sins, and please restore us to your good favor. Nothing in us makes us worthy of your love, yet you still lift us from the pit and grant us your salvation. Lord, forgive us all our sins and strengthen our faith to hold on to the promise of salvation that is ours for Jesus’ sake. Please send us your Holy Spirit that through your word, our faith is strengthened in you.

We also pray for those who come into our lives today that we might share the good news of your love and mercy with those who do not know you. Let us share with them our story of how you redeemed us through Jesus, our Savior. Amen.
