Psalm 19:7-11
The law of the Lord is perfect. It revives the soul. The testimony of the Lord is trustworthy. It gives wisdom to the inexperienced. The precepts of the Lord are right. They give joy to the heart. The commandment of the Lord is bright. It gives light to the eyes. The fear of the Lord is pure. It stands forever. The just decrees of the Lord are truth. They are altogether righteous. They are more desirable than gold, even better than much pure gold. They are sweeter than honey, even honey dripping from the honeycomb. Yes, by them your servant is warned. In keeping them there is great reward.
Dear Heavenly Father,
Your Word and Your commandments show us the sins that we commit. They point out our numerous iniquities and faults; each one deserves eternal separation from You, which should bring punishment and suffering in hell, and for all who reject You, Jesus said (in John’s gospel), they are condemned already. There is only one way to enter into heaven: faith in Your Son, Jesus. Your word is an SOS for us as it “Shows us Our Sins,” so we realize how much we need our Savior. Without Jesus, our conscience holds us accountable for everything we have done but does not give us the way to salvation; that is only revealed to us in Your Word.
However, we are not alone because your word has another SOS for us that also “Shows us Our Savior.” Jesus came to this earth to live the perfect life we could not live, and he suffered the punishment due to us. So that through him, we have forgiveness of sins and eternal life in heaven with you. This gift is from you, and to preserve us with you is far more precious than any amount of gold and sweeter than any honey. We pray that through faith, you will instill in us the desire to demonstrate our love for you and others by keeping the law you gave us.
We also ask that you give us the courage to share these SOSs with those who do not know you so that they can call you for help and know you will respond. Amen

It is knowing what is at stake when you are left in your sin without God. It makes the gift of forgiveness, God’s love, mercy, and salvation more precious and valuable.
