1 Timothy 2:1-4
First of all, then, I urge that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all those who are in authority, in order that we might live a quiet and peaceful life in all godliness and dignity. This is good and pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
Dear Heavenly Father,
We pray today for all people, just as Paul urged Timothy. We thank You for those You place in our lives who come to our aid and help us when we are in need, and we pray that You bless them according to Your divine will. You have given others around us their vocations to serve with the gifts You have given them, so please intercede in their lives to bring the promise of Your salvation to them so that by their talents, they will serve You by faith and give You all glory.
Along with this, you also instituted governments which are to provide security and safety for their residents. So we pray for our governments because they are filled with sinful people just like ourselves and, throughout history, have taken advantage of their power. Hence, we pray for all in authority that they would seek your good counsel and for those who abuse their rule that you would limit and bend them to your will. So that your forgiveness through Jesus will go out to all the world, and many more will come to know the intention of your salvation for all people—that all people would come to recognize the love and mercy you have for all.
We pray for Your intercession that Your forgiveness will be made known to those who do not know You and for those who trust in You that You will strengthen their faith through Your Word. So that, according to Your will, all people will be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth. Amen.
