1 Corinthians 1:22-25
Yes, Jews ask for signs, Greeks desire wisdom, but we preach Christ crucified—which is offensive to Jews and foolishness to Greeks, but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God. We preach Christ crucified, because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.
Dear Heavenly Father,
There is no sign we need other than the cross and Christ crucified. Yet, people today are similar to those during Paul’s time; many still reject You, wanting more proof. So, while they consider Your Word inaccurate and untrue, finding it offensive and foolish, they want what Your Word tells us: what awaits each of us on the other side of death’s door.
You tell us in Your Word what happens when this life ends. For those who reject You, it is eternal punishment and condemnation. For those who believe in Jesus’ salvational work—his life, death, and resurrection—we have forgiveness through him. The believer’s death is the beginning of eternal life in heaven; while we, too, deserve to be punished for eternity for each sin we commit along with everyone else, instead, we have life through faith in Christ. You sent Your Son to pay the entire debt of sin. He was sacrificed on the cross, redeeming us from the punishment of our sins. Jesus allowed himself to die, and to many, that seemed weak, not standing up for himself, even though he was an innocent man. However, on the contrary, it demonstrated Your great power and strength because You have forgiven us through Your plan of salvation, and Jesus overcame all our sins. Jesus repurchased us from sin, death, and Satan’s power by his precious holy blood. This is your marvelous sign and demonstrates your superior power.
Strengthen our faith, reminding us that Your foolishness is wiser and Your weakness is far superior to man. Let us share the truth of salvation with those who do not know about You so they will trust Your great wisdom and power. Amen.

By faith in Jesus, God reveals the wisdom that is beyond human understanding—His plan of salvation for you. His sign is the cross, where Jesus took all our sins away.
