2 Corinthians 10:17-18

But let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord. To be sure, it is not the one who commends himself who is approved, but the one whom the Lord commends.

Dear Heavenly Father,

All we need for this life comes from you, our loving and gracious God. We pray that you forgive us when we boast in ourselves, and please redirect our boast to be in you. Please give us faith to constantly know your love for us, giving you the honor and glory for the great things you have done.

Our salvation is entirely from your hand; we have no part in it. So let us brag about your Son, who came here to carry out your plan of salvation and suffer the punishment of our sins so that we have life and redemption instead of condemnation and death.

We rejoice in the salvation he won for us on the cross when we were entirely unworthy to be saved because of our sins. As Paul wrote, not one who commends himself is approved; instead, we boast about your plan of salvation for us.

The Holy Spirit instills faith in us to believe in our Savior, who died for our sins. You acclaim us because of faith your Spirit began in us; it is by faith alone that we have been saved nothing from ourselves.

Let this always be before us as we journey this life, and let us boast in your salvational work. When we were doomed and separated from you because of our sins, not only did you send your Son to suffer, but you also sent your Spirit that we would believe, and he has restored us by faith to you.

Provide us opportunities to boast to others who do not know you or think somehow, they participate in their salvation, that all who we meet would know salvation is all your work. So through faith, they too can boast in you as their Creator, Savior, and Sanctifier. Amen.

When you realize where you began—lost in sins and condemned to hell. How can you not brag about what God has done for you? He pulled you from the trash heap, restored you, and gave you eternal life. Now, that is something to boast about.
