Time for Grace-December 5, 2023

Romans 15:8-13

For I am saying that Christ became a servant of those who are circumcised for the sake of God’s truth, to confirm the promises made to the patriarchs. He also did this so that the Gentiles would glorify God for his mercy, as it is written: For this reason I will praise you among the Gentiles, and I will sing to your name. And again it says: Rejoice, you Gentiles, with his people. And again: Praise the Lord, all you Gentiles, and let all the peoples give him praise. And again Isaiah says: There will be a Root of Jesse, and he is the one who will rise up to rule the Gentiles; on him the Gentiles will place their hope. Now, may the God of hope fill you with complete joy and peace as you continue to believe, so that you overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Dear Lord Jesus,

You came to this earth to serve all people’s salvation, for all nations, and promised life to be available by trusting in You; it was not limited to only the children of Israel; however, throughout the Old Testament, the promise was made You would come from Jesse’s stump, King David’s father.

There is only one hope for people: forgiveness. You won it for us, suffering the world’s punishment on the cross. Many reject the salvation You won for them, yet it does not make it any less valid. Instead, it shows how vast Your mercy is that even though many reject Your grace and love, forgiveness is still there for them. Denying your gift is like receiving a letter of inheritance that is never read but thrown into the fire; the inheritor loses everything.

Thank you for the joy and peace you have brought us, knowing we are restored to You and the Father by your salvation. May we overflow with hope by the Holy Spirit and share the good news of forgiveness along with Your grace, love, and mercy with those who do not know you so that they will attain eternal life by having faith in You, our eternal Savior. Amen.

God’s love was brought to us through the promise to David and is made known to us in His Word. True and everlasting hope only comes through faith in Jesus; by Him removing all your sins, you are restored to God.
