Isaiah 42:5-7
This is what the true God says, the Lord who creates the heavens and stretches them out, who spreads out the earth and everything that it produces, who gives breath to the people on it and life to those who walk on it. I am the Lord. I have called you in righteousness. I will hold on to your hand, and I will guard you. I will appoint you to be a covenant for the people, to be a light for the nations, to open the eyes of the blind, to bring the prisoners out from the dungeon, and to bring those who sit in darkness out of prison.
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for giving us these words through Isaiah to understand who you are. We look at the night sky, and it seems to be never-ending. Then we look at the earth and see the wonderment of the different systems and cycles you have put in place, like the seasons, water, oxygen, and the growing of produce. All this was a part of your creation so that people would be able to live on this planet called Earth.
As You told Isaiah, You are the Lord. You created all this, and You have all of it in Your control, giving us life and restoring life to all of us held captive by sin. Yet while You are far superior and more tremendous than all the universe, You are also very intimate with us, providing us with a plan of salvation.
You promised to send the One whom You would hold by the hand, the One called in righteousness, who would give sight to the blind, and he would be a light for all nations. You sent Your Son, Jesus, who did everything You had promised for us. He brought a new covenant of love for us, overcoming the law and serving us by living a perfect, innocent life in our place.
You watched over and protected Jesus throughout his life, not allowing anything to harm Him. So that when the time was right, Jesus willingly climbed Calvary, going to the cross to suffer for all people’s sins. He paid our redemptive price with His blood to take us out of the darkness of sin’s prison and bring us into salvation’s light so that everyone who believes in him—from all nations—will have eternal life and salvation.
Please allow us to share these words with those around us so that they might trust in the One sent to restore fallen humans to You so they, too, can be taken from sin’s darkness into the light for the nations—salvation. Amen.

Jesus is the light of the good news that saves everyone who believes in him. He does it by opening the eyes of unbelief to see our sins, which keep us from God. Then, through faith and repentance, he forgives our sins, and we are restored to Him, the Father, and the Holy Spirit.
