Micah 5: 2
But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are small among the clans of Judah, from you, will go out the one who will be the ruler for me in Israel. His goings forth are from the beginning, from the days of eternity.
Dear Heavenly Father,
Throughout history, You have taken what was small and seemingly insignificant and brought great things from them. As Jesus told Paul, “My power is made perfect in weakness.”
You promised a Savior to come who would rule Israel for You, and He would come from the small town where you selected a shepherd boy—the youngest of his family—as king. So, as history unfolded, there would be no question about where the Savior would come from; He would come from King David’s line, born in Bethlehem.
When Herod asked the religious leaders where the One promised in the Old Testament would be born, they quoted this verse. It is a wonder they did not read He was with You from the beginning.
Your Son, who was alongside you creating the world, became part of that created order as a baby in that little shepherd town of Bethlehem—the village that raised the sheep for the temple. Perhaps it is not such a coincidence that when a perfect lamb without spot or blemish was born, shepherds would protect it by putting it in the feed trough—a manger.
Your Son was born here and was the perfect sacrifice that removed all our sins. In His death and resurrection, He defeated death for us. So we can lay all our sins at our Savior’s feet, knowing He has already removed them. We thank You for granting us a complete pardon, and we are restored to You.
We rejoice with the angels with the great things you accomplished for us through seemingly small things. So we ask that You use us, Your humble servants, to share the good news of Your love and forgiveness with those who do not know You; may this year be when they trust in Jesus. Amen.

God uses what appears to be tiny to do great things. In the small town of Bethlehem, Jesus was born, and from the no-name village of Nazareth, in gentile Galilee, He started His ministry. From these two tiny towns came salvation and eternal life for all who believe in Jesus.
