Psalm 4:8
In complete peace I will lie down, and I will sleep, for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety.
Dear Heavenly Father,
We ask that You be with us in all we do today, keeping and sustaining us. Last night, as we laid our heads to rest, there was nothing to fear because You were with us, watching over us, granting us peace as we slept.
We can only do this because Your Son suffered our punishment upon the cross; we know we have eternal life in Jesus’ holy life, innocent death, and resurrection. We pray that You will keep us secure through this day and every day as we hold and trust in You according to Your salvational plan. Your Son, Jesus, has saved and delivered this gift to us by faith in Him. When we close our eyes for the last time, we will sleep serenely in peace with You.
Our eyes will one day be closed in the sleep of death, but by faith, our souls will be safely united with you until the last day; then, our bodies will also be raised just as Your Son was raised, and we will live in heaven with you forever.
For Jesus’ sake, forgive us all our sins and strengthen our faith that we are united in complete peace with You. Let us also share our peace with those who do not know You so that they, too, will believe in Your Son and have faith that will save them and unite them with You. Amen.
