Time for Grace-February 21, 2024

Deuteronomy 7:9

He did this so that you would know that the Lord your God, yes, he is God, the faithful God who maintains both his covenant and his mercy for those who love him and keep his commandments, to a thousand generations.

Dear Heavenly Father,

We stand in awe of Your grace and mercy for us. Like the children of Israel, they had been in bondage, kept in Egypt for 400 years, but you maintained the covenant You made with Abraham: that his heirs through Isaac would have that land. You were faithful to them, kept Your word, and brought them to the promised land, and You sustained them in the wilderness so they would know You were faithful to them.

Similarly, we know you are faithful to us, many generations removed from them, and we were also trapped in the bondage of our sins with no way out. You sent Your Son to pay our sin’s price so that whoever loves and trusts in Jesus will be delivered from sin’s captivity and restored to You. Like the children of Israel, no one is forced to believe in You, but faith delivers salvation and eternal life when they do.

Out of love for You, we are not forced to keep Your commandments. Still, we want to keep them and, in keeping them, honor and serve You. May Your grace and mercy be with those we come in contact with today; that they might realize Your love and desire to know You more, and through Your word faith would begin in them, which would result in them having salvation and eternal life with You. Amen.

While God is faithful, our sins and pride impair how we see Him. So, in His word, he tells us how he has saved his people in the past and saves us still today through the forgiveness of sins. Through faith in Jesus, He delivers eternal life to everyone who believes in Him.
