1 Peter 1:18-21
You know that you were redeemed from your empty way of life handed down to you from your forefathers, not with things that pass away, such as silver or gold, but with the precious blood of Christ, like a lamb without blemish or spot. He was chosen before the foundation of the world but revealed in these last times for your sake. Through him, you are believers in God, who raised him from the dead and gave him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God.
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for repurchasing us from our corrupt, empty lives. As Peter wrote, this way was handed down to us from our parents; we are all born in sin, with the same sinful desires as Adam and Eve—to serve ourselves. Our first parents desired to be like You, and they questioned Your honesty, thinking somehow You lied and were not telling the whole truth, that there was something more. But You had given them everything they needed, as You said when You finished creation, everything was “very good.”
But since we are descendants of Adam, that empty way of life, always discontent with what we have, thinking we are gods in our own right deserving all that we demand, has infected us all. We become critical of You with what You have already blessed us with. So we ask that You forgive us for these sins of discontent and pride.
Our forgiveness can only come from You since our every sin is ultimately directed against You. For this reason, You sent Your Son, Jesus, to suffer the penalty of all our sins; he was the great sacrifice, a lamb without spot or blemish; he climbed upon the altar of the cross. Some might say it was the Jewish leaders that put Him there, but at any time, he could have stopped them and had legions of Angels to protect him, but he did not.
Jesus allowed the mock trial to continue, He allowed the false allegations, and He allowed Himself to be nailed to that tree so He could ask You to forgive us. By His precious blood, we are forgiven, and salvation comes to us all through faith in Him. Let us share this good news of forgiveness with others so they will have faith in You through Your Son. Amen.

Whether you believe it or not, Jesus has paid the price for your forgiveness; however, it only comes to you by faith so that by believing in the Christ, you also believe in the Father and are restored to God. By trusting in Jesus, salvation and eternal life come to you.
