Revelation 1:8
“I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, the one who is, and who was, and who is coming, the Almighty.
Dear Heavenly Father,
You were here before creation, and You will be here until You bring this world to an end. You have been here throughout the history of our planet. We people like to think we are ingenious, but as Solomon wrote, there is nothing new under the sun. Sin continues to dominate our societies; people chase after their hearts’ desires.
Some question whether you are the almighty because these things happen. However, you allow us people to make the horrific decisions that bring destruction upon ourselves—wars break out because of sinful men who desire to dominate over another—while You do not author evil, You limit us with Your almighty power.
When the people rejected You and chased after their evil desires during Noah’s time, You demonstrated Your almighty power by purging the earth with the flood so that You would maintain the remnant of believers through whom You sent Your Son, our Savior.
People may question the state of the world as it seems we are standing on the threshold of another world war, but we must remember Your sovereign power to limit the damage we will do to each other. You will watch over Your believers and, if necessary, bring us home to You.
Your almighty hand has already provided salvation through the death of Your Son so that whoever believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life. You are the same now as You were in the past and the same as you will be in all the tomorrows until this world ends. Keep us firm in our faith in You so we never doubt Your almighty power. Allow us to share who You are with those who do not know You so they will be restored to You by faith in their Savior and have eternal life. Amen.
