Time for Grace-March 13, 2024

Psalm 33:20-22

Our souls wait for the Lord. He is our help and our shield. Yes, in him, our heart rejoices because we trust in his holy name. May your mercy, O Lord, be on us, even as we wait confidently for you.

Dear Heavenly Father,

As we are in life’s wilderness, we wait for You. We will be challenged with problems, illnesses, diseases, and losses. However, as we wait for You in faith in all these things, You are already with us and walk alongside us through all our troubles. You take us by the hand as we wander below, and You shield us by limiting all problems that come our way. Knowing that You are always with us is comforting, so we thank You.

More importantly, we trust you are by our side, not just for physical troubles but also for our soul’s salvation. We know Your love and mercy by the faith that You begin in each believer. Through Your mercy, You do not give us the punishment we deserve; instead, you have laid our sentence upon Your Son. In place of chastisement, You have demonstrated Your grace—Your undeserved love—by giving us complete freedom from all our sins. So through Jesus’ forgiveness given to us, we are saved and will be with You forever in heaven. All this is ours because we trust in You.

We ask you to strengthen our faith as we wait so that we will never reject Your love but always recognize Your holy name. Let us share this gift with those who do not yet know Your name or mercy so they will confidently wait alongside us for Your Son’s coming. Amen.

Sitting in a waiting room is never easy, no matter how old you are, but we’re not alone; our Savior is with us. He gives us a great book to read: his word, which tells the tremendous cost of salvation—the precious blood shed by his innocent suffering and death, which he paid in full.
