Galatians 2:20

I have been crucified with Christ, and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I am now living in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

Dear Heavenly Father,

As believers, we now live by faith in Jesus, Your Son, and our Savior. Every day is a battle between our sinful selves, wanting to chase after the world’s desires or satisfying our selfish pride, and our new nature in faith clinging on to Jesus and You. Faith in Jesus has removed the sins that would condemn us to hell, but it does not eliminate or end the temptations that chase and torment us.

In our lives of faith, we can see and recognize sins’ inducements as they charge and come after us. So when we live in faith with Christ through Your Word, we can fight against those worldly and selfish enticements. When we fail and fall, we will know our sins and come to Jesus for his forgiveness, which He won for us on the cross; there, Jesus demonstrated His love for us by giving up His life in our place so that we have eternal life by faith in Him.

Lord, be with us and send us Your Holy Spirit in our fight against today’s temptations; may Christ live in us by faith in Him. Keep us vigilant to recognize and fight against the sin that would lure us away from You, and please forgive us for Jesus’ sake when we sin, especially for the sins that we are unaware of committing.

Let us share the good news of our new life with Christ living in us and the forgiveness, peace, joy, and hope that is ours through Jesus. Let us also share our hope through faith in Him with those who do not believe; please grant them faith so they have forgiveness, salvation, and eternal life. Amen.

To have Christ live in you does not mean we stop sinning; it means recognizing and reacting to temptations when they come our way and having the peace of forgiveness when we fall. Trusting in Jesus and His forgiveness, we are restored to God and have eternal life.
