Time for Grace-April 24, 2024

Psalm 9:9-10

The Lord will be a refuge for those who have been crushed, a refuge for times of trouble. Those who know your name will trust in you, for you, O Lord, have not forsaken those who seek you.

Dear Heavenly Father,

Trouble seems to follow us wherever we go; it comes at us from the world, and when that is not enough, we cause trouble for ourselves. When we become overwhelmed by all the challenges we face, we need a place to go.

While the troubles that come at us can be immediately in front of us and seem like the most significant threat, the greater threat is our sins—what we think, say, and do. We feel guilt and shame from them; we might even shrug that off as no big deal, but each sin condemns us to eternal death.

Through faith in your Son, we realize our need for a Savior to be our refuge from all our sins. He has taken all our sins into himself, so sin’s guilt and shame are also removed. By faith in Jesus, we take refuge when trouble comes our way; we know he has forgiven us and our sins are removed. So, no matter what this life throws at us, it cannot take our faith.

Please keep us in your word so that our faith is strengthened, and we never let go of your Son, our Savior. Instill in us the desire to share the refuge we have in you with those who do not know you. Let faith begin in them that they will find eternal shelter with you in heaven. Amen.
