Time for Grace – August 21, 2025

Philippians 1:6

I am convinced of this very thing: that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

Applying God’s Word Today: Finding Assurance During Difficult Days

When we face daily pressures—rushed mornings, unexpected setbacks, or criticism from others—it’s easy to wonder if any good can come from our struggles. During these tough times, Paul’s words serve as a powerful reminder: God is working in us, even when everything looks grim.

Paul’s confidence in God’s ongoing work encourages us to trust that, despite our circumstances, we are not alone. The assurance that God will sustain and complete the good He has begun in us offers hope and strength to persevere, knowing that every day, no matter how tough, is part of a larger purpose—our salvation.

Paul had every reason to feel frustrated with the world, considering all he had endured: prison, beatings, and stoning. Still, his confidence remained in Christ. Through faith, Paul knew and trusted in the salvation Jesus secured for him and for us all on the cross. Jesus suffered and died for our sins, then rose from the dead, promising us eternal life. The good work God began in us is the faith the Holy Spirit has given us to believe in and trust God’s good gifts and His love for us. If God was willing to let His Son suffer for us on the cross, we can find reassurance in this during difficult times as well.

Dear Lord God, please do everything necessary to sustain our faith until we meet our end so that we may be with You forever in heaven. We also pray for those who do not know You; give us the courage to share Your love with them. Let them come to faith in Jesus, and continue the good work in them until the end as You have promised to do for us. Please sustain and protect us to the very end. Amen.

God makes His promises in His Word and has already proven He keeps His Word when He sent His Son to be our Savior, rescuing us from our sins. So you can trust Him to keep you until Jesus comes again.
