Acts 4:11-12
This Jesus is the stone that was rejected by you builders, which has become the cornerstone. “There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to people by which we must be saved.”
Applying God’s word for today: Receiving What Others Reject
Have you ever received an offer that sounds too good to be true? You might think, “It has to be a scam; there’s got to be a catch; there’s no way that this is real!” We all want to protect ourselves from being duped, from false hope in something that’s a hoax—being misled into believing something that’s not as it appears. For example, someone hears of God’s forgiveness and thinks, “This has to be too good to be true.” Yet this is the cornerstone of Christianity.
Throughout history, people have faced persecution for their faith. But why reject Christ and take someone else’s life for believing in Him? We all confront the reality of our sins and must admit that we are responsible for our actions. This universal struggle with sin causes many to search for solutions. While we might try to fix our mistakes on our own, these efforts often fall short. That’s why the message of Jesus is so important—He offers what we cannot achieve ourselves. Only Jesus can overcome what we cannot, and He has already done it.
Jesus came to Earth to live the perfect, sinless life, then went to the cross as an innocent man to suffer the judgment for our sins—not just ours, but the sins of the entire world across all generations. He took the world’s sins into Himself so that we can receive forgiveness through faith in Him. It might seem too good to be true, but it is by faith alone, in Christ alone, that we are redeemed from our sin. There is no other way or name under which we are saved. We know this because God never lies, and He has written it in His Word.
Let me share this love of God with you so that you too may believe and have the certain hope of eternal life. God wants everyone to know this, and it’s no hoax — forgiveness of sins is real and yours through faith in Jesus. As Christians, we want to share this with those who haven’t heard it so they too can have eternal life.
Dear Lord, let Your Word resonate so we may trust and not reject Your love for us. Enable us to share this good news of forgiveness and salvation with those around us, and soften their hearts so they, too, may hear and believe this wonderful news of salvation that comes to each person through faith in Jesus. There is no other way to salvation but by trusting in Christ, the Cornerstone. Amen.
Many reasons exist to be skeptical in this world because we live in a sin-filled world where people try to deceive each other. However, God is holy and perfect and provided His perfect plan of salvation—to trust in Jesus, and by believing in Him, you are forgiven and given eternal life.
