Isaiah 55:10-11
Just as the rain and the snow come down from the sky and do not return there unless they first water the earth, make it give birth and cause it to sprout, so that it gives seed to the sower and bread to the eater, in the same way my word that goes out from my mouth will not return to me empty. Rather, it will accomplish whatever I please and it will succeed in the purpose for which I sent it.
Applying God’s Word for today: Be refreshed and nourished in God’s Word.
In some areas, rain falls daily like clockwork, especially during certain times of the year, and can even seem like a nuisance. In other regions, which have experienced droughts or are typically dry, rain and snow are often welcomed. Either way, when rain and snow fall, they fulfill what the Lord intends.
While rain and snow nourish the earth to produce crops, they also cleanse and refresh everything. Isaiah compares them to God’s word; when it descends, you cannot avoid it. Still, some reject it because of their unbelief. Other souls are nourished, and new faith grows from hearing about God’s love for all people. His word tells us of the forgiveness won for us on the cross by Jesus, His Son, our Savior. We hear of God’s will and His promise of salvation and eternal life. So, each time we share God’s word with others, it impacts them; some might see it as a nuisance and reject it. While God’s people gladly hear, having their sins washed away.
May God’s word work in your heart today, inspiring you to share it with someone who does not know Jesus.
Dear Lord, let Your Word work in my heart today, casting out all doubts and unbelief. Strengthen my faith in Your Word so I can know the forgiveness I have through my Savior, Jesus. Then, let me share Your love with one person who does not know You, and we pray that Your Word will accomplish exactly what You desire in their heart. Come, Lord Jesus, and let Your will be done. Amen.
God’s Word is powerful in accomplishing exactly what His will intends. Stay grounded in His word, receive His forgiveness, and let your faith grow as you soak in the shower of God’s Word; be nourished in Christ.
