Psalm 118:24
This is the day that the LORD has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it.
Applying God’s Word for today: Living in the Present, Present.
We are never assured of more than what we have right now. The very second before us is a blessing, an opportunity to know God more deeply. How are you using this moment? Is it spent in frustration or anger because things did not go as you hoped? Are your pride and ego being challenged by circumstances beyond your control? Or perhaps internal struggles—anxiety, depression, sickness, or simply a rough night’s sleep—make rejoicing seem difficult.
Recognize that the Devil, the world, and our own sinful nature seek to torment us and create obstacles to joy, aiming to bring us down and cause us pain. However, amid these trials, Jesus stands beside us, shoulder to shoulder, and when we reach out to Him in prayer, He is there. Other times, His presence comes through a caring spouse or friend who listens. Though struggles are inevitable, take comfort in knowing that God loves you. He proved this love by sending His Son to forgive all your sins.
By God’s grace and mercy, you can turn to Him. When confronted by the Devil, the world, or your own flesh, remember that Jesus has defeated sin, death, and the devil. These adversaries no longer hold power over you. When the world brings challenges, know that those troubles will pass. If the Devil tries to overwhelm you with memories of past sins, remind him that Jesus has forgiven you. When your conscience is heavy, thank God for His gifts—including this very moment to experience His love and mercy.
Dear Lord, Heavenly Father,
Thank you for this moment to know your love and mercy. Please forgive all my sins so the Devil cannot accuse me; grant me peace from everything troubling my conscience, and remove anything causing depression or anxiety. Help me to live with joy in this moment you have given, so I may share your love with those who do not know you. Ignite faith in them, so they, too, may experience your love and mercy and rejoice in this day you have made. Amen.
God has blessed you with today so you can know and trust in Him. He gave His Son to suffer and die in your place so that, through faith in Jesus, you are forgiven, and salvation and eternal life are yours. Because of this, today truly is a day to rejoice in God’s love for you.
