Hebrews 12:1-2
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us get rid of every burden and the sin that so easily ensnares us, and let us run with patient endurance the race that is laid out for us. Let us keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, who is the author of our faith and the one who brings it to its goal. In view of the joy set before him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame, and has taken his seat at the right hand of God’s throne.
Dear Lord Jesus,
Please send us the Holy Spirit that we will keep our eyes focused on you. In this life, we deal with many things that easily distract us away from you. “This I have to do today, and I have to get that done.” While they might have some importance, do they distract me from you and your word? You have laid our course for us to follow; it was the same course as those who have already run the race; they cheer us on through your word, reminding us to always look to you. We run this race through faith in you, always looking to you for our help and comfort. When challenges come our way, please keep us from getting bogged down in the weeds off the path you have laid out for us. On today’s leg of the race, give us focus on you in who our faith is set. Please bless us with perseverance. That we trust your word, knowing that through faith in you, you will bring us to the finish line. Your work on Calvary paid the price for all our sins. The forgiveness of sins unlocks the gates of heaven. Give us patient endurance today to run our race, knowing one day soon we will cross the finish line to heaven with the doors unlocked because you have removed our sin. Salvation and eternal life are ours; through faith, heaven is our home. Amen.

The racecourse was set before creation by Jesus, who has also paid the price for your admission. Keep your eyes fixed on him.
