Psalm 46:1-3

God is our refuge and strength, a helper who can always be found in times of trouble. That is why we will not fear when the earth dissolves and when the mountains tumble into the heart of the sea. Its waters roar and foam. The mountains quake when it rises.

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you for always being with us when our world seems to be crumbling around us. We struggle through days and think, “This had to be the worst day of my life!” until we have the next bad day. Then we watch a video of a mountain crumbling under a surge of water or someone’s house and all their belongings washed away and realize our day was not all that bad.

However terrible our day might have felt, we have your promise that you are always with us to help us through our good and bad days. You take care of all by overcoming our most significant challenge, sin. Jesus came into this world as promised in the Old Testament to deliver the world from sin, and he took all the world’s sins into himself on the cross and died to restore us to you. His gift of forgiveness is delivered to each believer through faith in him.

The Holy Spirit instills faith in each person, bringing Jesus to them. Nothing in this world can remove our faith; however, we can reject it and Jesus, leaving one to their efforts, which are never enough to save themselves. We pray that you will instill and strengthen our faith so that Jesus remains in us and we remain in him. Forgive us all our sins, for Jesus’ sake.

Let our reaction to you as our helper in times of trouble be to share the good news of our relief with others having their bad days. Let our hope in you change their hearts so that Jesus can be delivered to them by faith; please give them salvation and eternal life through their newfound faith in Christ. Amen.
