Psalm 1
How blessed is the man who does not walk in the advice of the wicked, who does not stand on the path with sinners, and who does not sit in a meeting with mockers. But his delight is in the teaching of the Lord, and on his teaching, he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted beside streams of water, which yields its fruit in season, and its leaves do not wither. Everything he does prospers. Not so the wicked! No, they are like the chaff which the wind blows away. Therefore, the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous. Yes, the Lord approves of the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish.
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for blessing those who do not take worldly advice; the world may seem alluring with what it calls wisdom, logic, or defines how to have a good time, but all its ways lead to eternal destruction. David said that the world’s ways are worthless chaff, and no lasting joy or true peace comes from them. Its ways are accompanied by bitterness from being mean and angry, pain from lies, suffering from losing those close to us, and, let’s not forget the troubles, shame, and regret from misbehavior.
Lord, we thank you for blessing all who believe and trust in you. Your word teaches us that you have forgiven all our sins because Jesus suffered the cross for them. You punished Jesus in our place for them so that by faith, we know he has removed all our sins, guilt, and shame. We delight in your teachings because we have the peace of being restored to you.
Let us stand beside the water of your Word, taking in its truth. Fill us with all that we need to sustain our souls so that on our last day, we know we will be with you in heaven and not perish like the wicked. We pray that you will give us the courage to share heaven’s peace and joy with those who are perishing—still walking with worldly advice. Let us share the good news of salvation with those burdened by their sins, and through your word, let faith begin in them and give them true peace that is only from you. Amen.

Plant yourself in God’s Word and hear his love and forgiveness. Because in His Word, you hear how he approves your ways and gives you true peace and joy. True peace is being restored to God, which is possible only through faith alone in Jesus.
