Time for Grace – February 24, 2025

1 Corinthians 1:22-25

Yes, Jews ask for signs, Greeks desire wisdom, but we preach Christ crucified—which is offensive to Jews and foolishness to Greeks, but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God. We preach Christ crucified, because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.

Dear Lord Jesus,

Thank you for giving us your Word. While your Word may not make sense to those who don’t know you, the truth remains about you and your salvational plan. Why would anyone intentionally die to save another? Why would someone die to save me?

Lord, I must admit that when things aren’t going my way, I resemble those who demanded signs, wanting you to prove your love to me. Please grant me the strength to know, trust, and believe in you and your word. In fact, You did provide the world with a sign; it was Jonah’s sign. You died on the cross and were placed in the grave, where you rested for three days, just as Jonah was in the belly of the fish. On the cross, you took all our sins into yourself to forgive the world, becoming sin for us.

Your work may sound foolish to some, but it was all part of your plan to save us. Lord, you are wiser than us. Through your plan of salvation, you redeemed us from death and our sins by defying the grave. No simple human could do any of what you have done.

Because of your resurrection from the dead, I know the payment for my sins was paid in full, and all who believe in you can place their hope in you. What a spectacular sign! While many call your dying on the cross for our sins foolish, it was brilliant once for all people.

Thank you for what you have done for all believers. Send your Holy Spirit so that faith will spark through the gospel’s message as we share the good news about your crucifixion with others. Please grant us opportunities to share your wisdom today. Amen.

Since Jesus is wiser and stronger than men, take your problems to him. Listen to his wisdom, and allow him to handle your concerns; he has already forgiven your sins.
