Time for Grace – February 26, 2025

Psalm 30:4-5

Make music to the Lord, you his favored ones, and give thanks when you remember his holiness, for we spend a moment under his anger, but we enjoy a lifetime in his favor. In the evening, weeping comes to stay through the night, but in the morning, there is rejoicing!

Dear Heavenly Father,

When we hear music, we can feel joy from the tune as we listen to the different chords and intonations carefully crafted to create a melody and chorus. We thank you for giving us the gift of music; it helps us navigate our day, lifting us when we feel melancholy and allowing us to sing out when we are happy and excited.

We have so much to be excited about because you have restored us to yourself through the salvation that Jesus secured for us on the cross when he suffered and died for our sins. Salvation is given to us by faith in Jesus; you have made us your favored ones. Through faith, we have the promise of salvation that is already ours.

As we navigate through life, we struggle with the temptations of our sins and should weep as we reflect on what our sins deserve. Although our first inclination is to hide from our sins rather than confront them, our human nature resists facing the thoughts, words, or actions we engage in, leading us into a downward spiral that makes us indifferent toward our sin, causing us to feel trapped and believe there is no way out. However, Jesus’ love and mercy are always greater than our sins. We have much to celebrate because his suffering and death have washed away every sin, and we are restored to His favor.

Lord, help us share this good news with those who try to conceal their sins or believe, “I am doomed because of what I have done to those around me.” Let us share your love and the peace of forgiveness through the promises of your word. May those who hear of your love trust your words and hold on to the joy of salvation that belongs to them and us through our Savior Jesus. Create a new heart within us so that we may sing a song of rejoicing in anticipation of the heavenly morning to come. Amen.

Don’t let the world take the joy or your song away today. Remember that no matter what the world may send your way, God’s love for you is more significant—he has prepared a place in heaven for you so that in your last breath here, your morning will dawn in heaven.
