Ephesians 5:8
For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light.
Dear Heavenly Father,
Please grant us faith so we may walk as your children of light. We encounter struggles every day in this world. Our sinful nature seeks to entice us back to our dark, wicked ways, where in that darkness, shame and guilt continually haunt us. The devil, the world, and our sinful nature all wish to draw us back into the darkness of sin.
We all start our lives in the darkness of sin. In Paul’s letter to the Romans, he quoted David’s Psalm: “There is no one righteous, not even one; there is no one who understands; there is no one who seeks God.” We were all in the darkness of sin, divided and separated from You. You could have left us in our condemnation, but You didn’t. Instead, You established Your plan of salvation to bring us back into Your holy light.
You sent Your Son, who lived perfectly in our place and then endured our punishment on the cross. Your Holy Spirit instills faith in each believer’s heart to receive this gift of forgiveness. By Your grace, mercy, and peace, we are restored to You and shine as Your children of the light. Since our sins have been removed, this does not grant us a license to sin; instead, we are called to walk as children of light, guided by faith. Forgive us when we stumble and fall into temptation.
May our response to the forgiveness, mercy, and love You have shown us be to love You and others in return. We pray that as we walk in the light, the love we share with others may inspire them to seek You and Your light so that they, too, will come to faith, walk in the light, and receive the gifts of forgiveness, salvation, and eternal life. Amen.

God’s plan of salvation was delivered to this world through Jesus. He made it possible for all believers to move from darkness into the light of the Lord, restoring us to Himself through faith alone in Jesus.
