Time for Grace – April 8, 2025

Hebrews 4:16

So let us approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

Dear Heavenly Father,

Nothing within us justifies approaching your throne of grace with confidence. Our attitudes, opinions, and actions are dreadful, as they are tainted by sin; none of us is innocent. Moreover, we believe that all our problems stem from those around us; it is always others who influence how we behave. We are reluctant to examine ourselves or take responsibility for our actions.

Let us begin this day by reflecting on ourselves, for we cannot change others’ actions or attitudes, but we can recognize our own faults. We have often felt anger toward others when their actions have conflicted with our desires. Let us examine our thoughts and hearts, for it is there that our sin begins. We cannot change others, but we can seek forgiveness for what we have thought, said, and done.

While nothing in us permits us to approach your throne because of Jesus’ salvational work—his perfect life, innocent suffering, holy death, and resurrection—faith in him enables us to confidently lay all our sins at his feet, knowing that Jesus has removed every sin along with the accompanying guilt and shame. Therefore, with our sins removed, nothing prevents us from coming to you. We can approach your throne with confidence.

When earthly troubles arise, we can confidently ask for your help, trusting that you will not only hear our pleas but also respond to them in the best way for our salvation and the salvational needs of those around us. Lord, you know all our needs today; please guide us in your ways according to your promise so we can focus on sharing your Word with those who do not know you. Please let them approach your throne with confidence. Amen.

Through faith in Jesus, God’s gifts of love, mercy, and grace come from beyond us, allowing us to confidently know and trust that God not only hears our prayers but also answers them in a way that best serves our eternal life.
