Colossians 2:13-15
Even when you were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made you alive with Christ by forgiving us all our trespasses. God erased the record of our debt brought against us by his legal demands. This record stood against us, but he took it away by nailing it to the cross. After disarming the rulers and authorities, he made a public display of them by triumphing over them in Christ.
Dear Heavenly Father,
We thank You for giving us life. As Paul wrote—by the inspiration of Your Holy Spirit—our souls begin this life dead in our trespasses and sins. Our sins separate us from You, and there is no life in that state of separation. While our physical bodies might be alive, there is no life in our souls until the Holy Spirit renews life in us by removing our sins and beginning faith.
All believers are made alive by faith in Your Son, our Savior. Jesus took all our sins onto Himself on the cross, and as Paul wrote, He erased the record of our debt against us. It was nailed to the cross with Christ; He made Himself to be sin, who knew no sin. So, by believing in Jesus—His holy life and innocent death on the cross—we are forgiven and restored to You. This public display of His death on the cross assures us that all our sins are removed, and if they are removed, then nothing separates us from You, and we have life through faith in Christ.
Thank you for sending Your Son to restore us; let us, in our joy and love for You, share the good news of our forgiveness and salvation with those who do not know You. So that they, too, will know their debt of sin has been removed; they will be restored to You and have eternal life. Amen.

Sin separates us from God, but faith in Jesus, along with His love, mercy, and forgiveness, restores our relationship with God. This gift is unearned; it’s given not because of anything you have done, but solely because of God’s love for you.
