Philippians 4:4-7
Rejoice in the Lord always! I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be known to everyone. The Lord is near. Do not worry about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace, which surpasses understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.
Applying God’s Word for today: Don’t worry about anything!
Life can be challenging with many events and obstacles, leaving us feeling out of control. Telling ourselves, “Don’t worry!” is simple, but truly not worrying can be difficult. Often, pride makes us want to control everything, which only adds to the struggle. Yet, God’s Word assures us that He is close. Jesus came to undo the effects of our sin—the biggest problem beyond our control—by sacrificing His life for our forgiveness and the hope of heaven through faith in Him. His peace, as described in this passage, is available to us through faith in Jesus.
Since God has taken away our punishment for our sins by placing them on His Son on the cross, and is always near us, we can trust that He will be with us during difficult times, providing what we need and listening to our thanks. Many times, God answers our prayers even before we ask—those moments when everything falls into place. He’s ready to hear us again when we face struggles.
If you know someone who doesn’t know Jesus but is facing difficulties, share His love with them and pray for them, asking God to help. This world is tough for everyone, and we are only promised the moment we are in now. Why worry about tomorrow when God can turn it into a blessing before it arrives? Use this moment to share God’s love and the peace, forgiveness, and hope of salvation that are for everyone—including them.
Heavenly Father, thank you for loving us, sending Jesus to forgive our sins, and giving us the gift of salvation. Help us to let go of our pride and fears, trusting You for everything we need now. Guide our hearts and increase our trust in Jesus, our Savior. Amen.
Place all your worries in God’s mighty hands; He created everything around us. If He can create this world, He can also handle tomorrow’s problems.
