Time for Grace – December 11, 2025

Isaiah 42:5-7

This is what the true God says, the Lord who creates the heavens and stretches them out, who spreads out the earth and everything that it produces, who gives breath to the people on it and life to those who walk on it. I am the Lord. I have called you in righteousness. I will hold on to your hand, and I will guard you. I will appoint you to be a covenant for the people, to be a light for the nations, to open the eyes of the blind, to bring the prisoners out from the dungeon, and to bring those who sit in darkness out of prison.

Applying God’s Word for today: God’s promise of Light and Salvation

As we look up at what seems like an endless night sky or think about the vastness of the oceans, we might feel overwhelmed by the sheer size of creation. The world was built with complex systems and cycles, making sure we have water to drink, oxygen to breathe, and food to eat. God created all of this so that our planet could be a place where life can thrive.

Despite the vastness of creation, we are not alone. God promises to be with us, assuring us that He will hold our hand and protect us. This is truly remarkable: the God who created the universe cares so deeply for each of us that He stays by our side through every situation. Even during difficult times and in the presence of evil, God is there. His Word tells us that He sets limits on evil.

More importantly, He has rescued us from the greatest danger—our sin. It may not always seem like a big threat, but each sin separates us from God. Our sins condemn us. God sent His Son, Jesus, to rescue us because, on our own, we are doomed. Jesus saved us from the darkness of sin and from hell’s prison. Salvation is a gift from God, offered to everyone but received only through faith in Jesus. He is our guiding light and our salvation. Share the love God has for you with someone still trapped in their dark prison; may God’s gift of salvation be delivered to them.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for giving us these words through Isaiah so we can understand the greatness of Your love and mercy. Send us a bright light this Christmas, renew our vision so we see Your love and are free from the bondage of sin, along with its guilt and shame. Grant us Your grace and mercy so we can share Your love with others who are still trapped. Give them spiritual sight to see and understand the truth of Your love. Amen.

Jesus is the light of the good news that brings salvation to everyone who believes in Him. He opens our eyes of unbelief, allowing us to see the sins that separate us from God. Through faith and repentance, He forgives our sins and restores us to God—the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
