Time for Grace – February 3, 2026

John 8:12

When Jesus spoke to them again, he said, “I am the Light of the World. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life.”

Applying God’s Word for today: Do you need a light?

David wrote in the Psalms that we came into this world under the darkness of sin, “In sin did my mother conceive me.” Sin has not only corrupted us but also cursed the earth. All the world’s darkness explains the chaos that leads to disease, sickness, death, and natural disasters; the world’s curse of sin causes them. It, too, is in darkness.

When one is blinded by unbelief, they function in the darkness, not even realizing they live in it. Yet Jesus came to be the light of the world, so that by believing in Him we have the light of life. Faith gives us the wisdom to see our sins and to lay them at Jesus’ feet, which He has already forgiven on the cross. He suffered and died for us all so that by believing in Him we have eternal life—the light of the world. Faith receives God’s gift of knowing His desire for you, which is to be with Him in heaven for eternity, where there is no sin, suffering, sickness, disease, or pain.

More good news is that we get to share this gift with others who don’t believe in Jesus, and that by hearing the word of God, they, too, may trust and receive the light of life. Do you need a light? It is the light that brings salvation, so the answer is—Yes!

Dear Lord Jesus, You came as the light of the world, which also overcomes the shadow of death. So we have nothing to fear in this world as we walk with You in faith. Continue to brighten our path and show us the way to heaven. Let us reflect Your light into the world so others will believe and no longer walk in darkness. Amen.

Let me give you a light, the light of the world. Jesus loves you. He died for you, and He rose from the dead for you so that by believing in Him you will have salvation, eternal life, and a home in heaven as a child and heir of God’s everlasting kingdom.
