Time for Grace – February 17, 2026

Isaiah 66:1-2

This is what the Lord says. The heavens are my throne, and the earth is a footstool under my feet. Where, then, is the house that you could build for me? Where, then, is a place that could serve as my resting place? For my hand made all these things, so all these things came into existence, declares the Lord. Yet this is the person I will watch over: the one who is afflicted and whose spirit is crushed, the one who trembles at my word.

Applying God’s Word for today: God’s presence in our Troubled Times

Do you ever feel alone in this world, battling each day with the troubles that come at you? Where can I go? God’s Word! In His Word today, we hear of His love for each of us, especially when we must deal with a world around us that seems angry and hostile toward us. As Isaiah writes, we can feel afflicted and crushed. Then, looking at ourselves because of the things we have thought, said, or done, we might also think, “I don’t deserve God’s grace,” as His Word points out our sins.

Yet we are the people whom God watches over, even when the world and those around us want to afflict us and crush our spirits. We might look at the first verse of Isaiah and think, God is so great and powerful. Why would He be concerned for me? Because in the grand scheme of the universe, am I relevant?

But the truth is that God, whose footstool is the earth, knows you so personally that He knows the exact number of hairs on your head. He knows when you sit and when you get up; He knows what you are about to say even before you say it. Moreover, He loves you so much that He sent His Son to die in your place for all your sins. Through Isaiah, He said, “Yet this person I will watch over.” It is an active, ongoing vigilance He has for you. Why? Because He loves you and ultimately wants you to be with Him in heaven for eternity. Salvation is His gift to you, received by faith in Him.

Dear Heavenly Father, we cannot, by our understanding, comprehend how vast You truly are; it defies our logic. Yet there is such comfort in knowing that You, who are infinite, personally know us and watch over us. When the world comes against us, conceal us under Your protection; let us share Your love with those who seek to accost and persecute us. May You lift their persecuted spirits as well. Amen.

The vastness of the universe helps us somewhat comprehend the magnitude of God, but more importantly, it displays the power that oversees your every move. The same power that removed your sins so that salvation is yours by faith in Jesus.
