2 Peter 1:21
In fact, no prophecy ever came by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were being carried along by the Holy Spirit.
Dear Heavenly Father,
You sent the Holy Spirit to give us the certainty of the words we read in the Bible. While it was written by men, the Holy Spirit gave them the words and ideas to write, each recording a different facet of the gem of salvation. These words are not just men’s words like some other history book or some nonfiction ramblings of an overinflated ego. But these are the words that bring life to a fallen world. While some may see your words as some “great life advice,” ways to live a good life. Those ideas miss the mark of what you wanted to share with us, how you restored us back to your good favor. For many generations, you promised to send the world a Savior. That was your Son; he came to this world to take our place in your punishment of the world; on Calvary, he suffered your anger that was meant for us sinners. Then he paid the price for our sins by giving up his life on the cross for us, and he rose victoriously from the grave. These are the Holy Spirit’s words, which writers recorded for us, so we know for sure we have the promise of everlasting life.
Lord the Holy Spirit, thank you for giving these men the words and promises to write and for instilling our faith in Jesus Christ, our Savior. Amen.

While God’s word is written by men, do not lose sight of the inspiration by the Holy Spirit and the miracle of maintaining the continuity of God’s word through all generations.
