2 Corinthians 7:10

In fact, godly sorrow produces repentance, which leads to salvation, leaving no regret. On the other hand, worldly sorrow produces death.

Dear Heavenly Father,

As we are here on this earth, we all continue to sin. Through faith, the gifts of forgiveness, grace, and mercy are delivered to us. When we consider what separates us from an unbeliever, it is faith alone. Paul once wrote godly sorrow produces repentance which leads to salvation. When I sin as a believer, my sin is before me, and I know how I have grieved you and others. It is not only in what I do but also in what I think and say. When I realize my sin, I bring it back to you in repentance and ask for your eternal forgiveness. Because of Jesus’ perfect life and innocent death, I know through faith that Jesus died for all my sins, including that sin I had just done. I lay my sins before you and leave them at Christ’s cross, knowing they are forgiven. No guilt remains when they are turned over to Jesus.

However, the unbeliever will be held accountable for all they have done. They refused Jesus’ forgiveness, and he grants them their wish to go it all alone. Their resistance is against Jesus, the Holy Spirit, and the faith the Spirit desired to begin in that person. This resistance leads to suffering from guilt for all they have done and eternal death.

Lord, please send your Holy Spirit to be with me to strengthen my faith through your word. So through faith, I know that my redeemer lives and my sins I turned over to him are forgiven. Also, grant me the love for others and the courage to share this message of your love. So those who do not know you might also come to faith and have the peace of your forgiveness. Amen.
