2 Corinthians 12:9
And he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, because my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore, I will be glad to boast all the more in my weaknesses so that the power of Christ may shelter me.
Dear Heavenly Father,
Paul asked you to remove his thorn in the flesh given to him by Satan. He asked three times, and this was your answer, “My grace is sufficient for you.” We have no idea what Paul’s thorn was, and despite it, he remained faithful to you. We all face challenges that have been put in our path; Satan wants to derail us from trusting in you. We can get wrapped up in all sorts of troubles and trials, but it is in those times that we have to go to you. We use those situations to grow our faith, to grab hold of you. We are all sinful beings, and many things will tempt us; you have given us the power of forgiveness when others hurt us. Through forgiveness, we work through and address those issues. When we do, your grace is sufficient for us; the ability to forgive and overcome is where we see your power made perfect in our weakness. It is there, as Paul said, where Christ’s power shelters us. It is through faith we receive his forgiveness of all our sins—even when they are their worst—because Jesus died for us. No matter what we have done, we boast in you. You should have cast us away from you forever; instead, you loved us and have forgiven us. So please give us the strength to forgive others as you have forgiven us. Let us use this as our mantra today, “your grace is sufficient for us because your power is made perfect in our weakness.” Amen.
