Psalm 62:5-8
My soul, rest quietly in God alone, for my hope comes from him. He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress. I will not be disturbed. My salvation and my honor depend on God, my strong rock. My refuge is in God. Trust in him at all times, you people. Pour out your hearts before him. God is a refuge for us.
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come to you for rest. This world and all its ways are challenging; there is nothing we can hang our hat of hope upon here. What seems to give us promise soon demonstrates chaos and confusion because someone’s sinful pride, greed, or arrogance got in the way. Too often, it is we that become discontent, it is easy to blame others because so and so did this or said that, but it comes back to us.
However, with you, it is different because it is not what you get from us but what you give to us—your love and forgiveness. We rest in you because in you we find a solace place to lay our problems; you took all our guilt and shame and laid it upon your Son, our Savior, Jesus. Your love is like a rock that cannot be shaken. Jesus willingly came to this earth to suffer for our sins and took our punishment upon himself. So that by believing in him, we have everlasting life because we are restored to you. You are that unmovable rock for all who believe in you.
Knowing that we are already forgiven, we can pour out our hearts to you, and by letting go of all our sins, we take refuge in you, our fortress. This world can come at us, but knowing you have already given us eternal life, this world’s chaos cannot affect us, and we have nothing to be afraid of here. If it is your will? Please let us share this good news about you, our fortress, with someone who does not know Jesus so that they can rest in you. Amen.

Knowing your sins are completely forgiven and you are restored to God places a new perspective on this life; God gives us rest. Your focus should be on the hope God has given you through Jesus’ work. You are redeemed, and eternal life is yours through faith alone.
