Revelation 1:8

“I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, the one who is, and who was, and who is coming, the Almighty.

Dear Lord Jesus,

You are with us now, so please forgive us today according to your love and mercy; give us your assurance of peace in this forgiveness. You are our God and ever-present help in times of trouble. With the Father, you sustain our every need. With the Holy Spirit, you ensure our faith is fed through your word and sacrament.

Lord, we consider how your forgiveness came to be. You are God and were with the Father and the Holy Spirit from the beginning, creating this world and us. When we fell into sin, you took on human flesh and became part of your creation to redeem us from all our sins. So you went to the cross to suffer our punishment. Thank you for being our Savior and the first raised from the dead. So that we have the confidence, you will also raise us on the last day.

Lord, you have told us in your word that you will come again; for those who trust and believe in you, we have nothing to fear in your second coming. You know your sheep, and we recognize your voice. We have heard your loving words calling us to repentance and the words of forgiveness. We have nothing to fear because the sin that divided us from you is forgiven.

You are the Almighty who has restored us from sin, death, and the devil. Please let us share the good news of our Alpha and Omega with those who do not know you or whose faith is weak so they can trust you for the life that only comes through you. Amen.
