Psalm 119:130
The doorway to your words lets in light. It gives understanding to the inexperienced.
Dear Heavenly Father,
Your word is where we receive all we need for this life; the Psalmist envisions it as a doorway that lets light into our lives. Our lives can become very chaotic at times, with situations coming against us from every direction, and we feel helpless in those events. However, as we turn to your word, you tell us how you limit those things coming at us.
You also remind us of your love for us. Through your Son, Jesus, you demonstrated your love for us by taking away our greatest challenge, which was our sin, along with the result of our sin, which is eternal death.
Jesus suffered in our place so that through faith in him, we have forgiveness and salvation, removing our eternal death threat. If you removed that tremendous obstacle from us, we can be confident that you will work all things together for our good—for those who love you.
While life’s challenges might seem insurmountable at times, we know that, through your word, you will keep us in your tender care. Please reassure us today of the peace, joy, and hope which only come through you. Then, let us share the promises of life and salvation with those who do not know you; may they hear that your word has also opened the door of salvation for them. Please allow your word to work in their hearts and know Jesus—after all, he said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
Let us share your love, which is the light of your Word, and your gift for all, which is received by faith. Let us share your forgiveness with those who do not know you and reassure those who do know you. Please open the door of your word to let in the light. Amen
