Psalm 34:19

Many are the troubles of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him from them all.

Dear Heavenly Father,

You never promised your faithful followers that there would be no trouble in our lives for us. Instead, David reminds us that there will be many difficulties for believers.

We have continuous struggles with the world, which criticizes our faith and values, insisting we need to accept those things they worship.

Then, we face health struggles the same way the world encounters them. These challenges are due to sin in the world, the chaos caused in our bodies, and the aging process. When you created our first parents, they did not have any of those challenges, but their sin has affected all of us; no one is immune from sin.

We face struggles of personal temptations. We are tempted to sin against you and others. Our pride gets involved, and we become loveless, causing problems in our relationships with those around us.

But you deliver us from them all. Since sin causes all these troubles, you sent us your Son, who lived the perfect life we could not live. He loved those around him, even his enemies, trying to turn them from their sinful ways and repent of their sins. He credits all who believe with his holy, perfect righteousness. He willingly suffered our punishment of sin on the cross so that all who believe in him have the forgiveness of sins.

The gifts of perfection and forgiveness are for all who believe in Jesus. So we pray that you forgive us all our sins for Jesus’ sake and please grant us the promise and hope of heaven. We also lay all our struggles at Jesus’ feet, knowing that even though our troubles are many, you will deliver us from them all because of this promise you made in your word.

Please allow us to share this good news with those who do not know you or whose faith is weak so that all may confidently trust in your good and gracious will for them. Amen.

It is worth saying again that we have many troubles in this life, but the Lord delivers us from them all. He has demonstrated his love for you by restoring you to himself through his Son’s salvific work. Salvation and eternal life are yours through faith in Jesus.
