1 Timothy 2:1-4
First of all, then, I urge that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all those who are in authority, so that we might live a quiet and peaceful life in all godliness and dignity. This is good and pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
Dear Heavenly Father,
We pray for all people, as Paul urged Timothy. We thank You for others You place in our lives, especially when they come to our aid and help us when we are in need, and we pray that You bless them according to Your divine will. You have given each person the ability and vocation to serve according to the gifts you have given them. So please bless those around us and bring them the promise of your salvation so that through their talents, they will serve you in faith and give you all glory.
We pray for good government and faithful leadership. You instituted government to provide security and safety for its residents. So, we pray for our leaders because they are sinful people. Throughout history, world leaders have taken advantage of their power and often have used their authority for personal gain. Hence, we pray that all in authority will seek your good counsel and that you will limit and bend those who abuse their power to do your will. So that through our government’s safety, the good news of Jesus’ forgiveness will go out to all the world, and many more will come to know the intention of your salvation for all people—that all people would come to recognize the love and mercy you have for all.
We pray for your intercession that your forgiveness will be made known to those who do not know you and for those who trust in you that you will strengthen their faith through your Word. So that, according to your will, all people will be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth. Amen.
